Ísafjörður Public Library

Ísafjörður Public Library is located at the Cultural House, which is the former regional hospital. The building dating back to the 1920‘s offers a nice and friendly atmosphere to its guests.

The library holds a good collection of books, journals, cartoons and dvd films. We offer books in various foreign languages, as well as journals in English and Danish. You are welcome to sit down in our newspaper and journal room and enjoy a cup of coffee while reading papers. If you are looking for a peaceful corner to study or work, our silent study room on the 2nd floor is the right place. Here you also find our collection of reference books.

We are happy to assist with information research. Printing and photocopying services are also offered.

There is normally at least one exhibition going on in the building, whether art, photograpy, old documents or other type of exhibition. Often you find exhibitions both in the showroom on the 2nd floor as well as in our hallways and stairwell.

The library is a member of the Icelandic Union Catalogue. To search the library catalogue: leitir.is
